* Won the gold medal in veteran men’s in air rifle open sight events of the 7th Odisha State Shooting Championship, held at Bhubaneswar from August 17 to 20, 2017.

* Won medals in National Karate championships, but was disqualified from competition for dangerous striking.

* Learned wrestling at the age of 10 at Kalinga Gymnasium in Cuttack.

* Took to karate in 1980 at Bhubaneswar.

* Karate India Organisation appointed him as its Honorary Chief National Advisor of Training and Development on 17 April, 2021.

* He is the founder of Utkal Karate School in Bhubaneswar.

* Became the first martial-art guru to secure 7th dan black belt and accredited coaching license from World Karate Federation in March, 2014.
